The Supreme Audit Office of Afghanistan Released its Annual Report of Activities and Achievements
The Supreme Audit Office of Afghanistan (SAO), under the title (Reporting to the People by the Government), shared the report of one year’s activities and achievements during a press conference held at the Government Information and Media Center, today on 13/06/1401 or 17/02/1444.
In this press conference, Mawlavi Ezatullah Haqani, Acting President and Deputy Auditor General of Financial and Compliance of Legislative Documents Affairs, Fazlullah Nizami, Senior Advisor to the Auditor General, Mawlavi Noor Haidar Saddar, Legal Advisor, Mawlavi Esa Khan head of the Department of Da’wah and Guidance, Muhammad Ghazi, Head of the Department of Foreign Aids, and some other senior officials of SAO participated.
At the beginning, Mawlavi Ezatullah Haqani, Acting President and Deputy Auditor General of Financial and Compliance of Legislative Documents Affairs, talked about the introduction, activities, achievements, and foreign relationship of the SAO. He added that SAO is an independent and neutral institution that carries out its functions professionally and impartially according to its own constitution and international standards. He also said that under article 5 of the SAO law, the institution has the power of auditing all the public sectors.
After that, Fazlullah Nizami, Senior Advisor to the Auditor General, talked briefly about the one year activities and achievements of SAO, like auditing in the Public Sector sections, the cash and moveable assets of the government institutions, amending the policy of SAO staff and appointing the competent persons, improving the quality of auditing, accountability, transparency, and fight against corruption, handling objections on the findings of auditing, and capacity building of the SAO staff. He also answered the questions of media persons.
Fazlullah Nizami also stated that SAO, since the fall of the previous government and the victory of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, has done the audit of about (139) central and provincial sites. As a result, (2.8) billion Afghanis and (13147) US dollars have been identified to be paid to the government treasury, and about (1.5) billion Afghanis and (779) US dollars have been identified to be purified and paid to the government treasury.
