Citizens' participation in the national processes and programs is one among the pillars that build public trust between citizens and public organizations.

The Supreme Audit Office (SAO) has paved the way for the involvement of civil society organizations, media, and citizens within the process of participatory audits, which is an efficient initiative by the SAO. The role of people and institutions is very important and valuable in this regard.

The main goals of citizen’s participation in the audit process are ensuring transparency and accountability in the field of finance, improving and developing trust between citizens and entities, and strengthening the effectiveness of public oversight.

Sharing the documents and evidences in the form of complaints and suggestions by civil society organizations, media, and citizens assist the SAO to redress and investigate on areas where there is concern and the report of investigation will be published for increasing the awareness of the people to make accountable the officials of the Organizations.
